What is high blood pressure?

Olive oil and blood pressure
Although the elements to which the antihypertensive effects of the Mediterranean diet are to be attributed have not yet been accurately identified, it has been shown that the introduction of olive oil into the diet had resulted in a decrease in blood pressure. The usual consumption of olive oil makes it possible to reduce the values of systolic (maximal) and diastolic (minimal) blood pressure.
It has recently been confirmed that the consumption of olive oil makes it possible to reduce the daily dose of hypotensive medication necessary to control the blood pressure of subjects suffering from hypertension, probably thanks to a better use of nitric oxide driven by polyphenols.
